Street Youth in Guatemala-city
Girls—often very young mothers—and boys driven to leave the slums and their families due to poverty and violence, end up living on the streets. There, they are exposed to traffickers and militias enabled by a corrupt and violent authoritarian regime.
These girls and boys are brimming with talent and dreams, just like all other young people their age. At Mojoca in Guatemala-city, they find countless opportunities to feel recognized, regain self-confidence, express themselves, and engage with society.

The « Belgian Friendship Network with Street Youth »
The network relies on the commitment of a broad network of volunteers and friends in Belgium. We organize awareness-raising activities in schools, friendly and festive evenings, concerts, sponsored walks, solidarity meals and more. We participate in awareness days, training sessions, and Christmas markets. We also sell handmade crafts made by the young girls and boys of Mojoca.
Mojoca was founded in 1993. It is a joy to continue the journey with children and adolescents, who will not experience life on the streets and its violence. Apart from providing mere assistance, we constantly strive to help them achieve autonomy and dignity.
